In today’s fast-paced market, mobile phones are essential for keeping your business agile and up to date, while also ensuring your employees
Since before 2014, a private branch exchange (PBX) was an essential part of your business telephone system, distributing calls to all or individual users – however, the time when a hardware PBX which lived in your office has passed.
Modern alternatives include unified communications (UC), unified comms and collaboration (UC&C) or Unified comms as a service (UCaaS). Obvious reasons why this change has been made would be technological advancements (as well as the upcoming BT Big Switch Off!), but that’s not the whole story.
Poor Call Quality:
Remember the days of crackling international calls? Broken, half heard conversations? As a hardware PBX gets older, the hardware can struggle to keep up, making dropouts and missed speak a regular occurrence. Storage systems start to degrade and as a result, call quality deteriorates, which can make all the difference to day to day business.
Modern alternatives provide clear calling experiences. VoIP telephony solutions offer the same features and benefits of a non-hosted IP phone solution, with the exception that most of the infrastructure and consequently, complexity, is held within a core network and secure data centre (the cloud), thereby removing the need to host PBX equipment locally.
High maintenance costs:
Just like an old car, maintaining hardware PBX often requires lots of labour hours, with parts being increasingly scarce, and repairs become more and more complex. With many older systems no longer supported by the manufacturer, you don’t get firmware/software updates, patches or upgrades. This can result in security issues and vulnerabilities. High maintenance costs become a regular outlay.
Modern alternatives are completely adaptable to your business, allowing you to tailor your systems to how your organisation works, saving money, while keeping your systems up to date and secure.
Limited ability
When your whole workforce was together in one office, one piece of hardware to connect them all was ideal. Now, however, with remote working, offsite staff and various offices, using a VPN to connect to the hardware is often slow to connect and lacking in functionality.
Modern alternatives integrate with a huge range of software products such as Google, Zoho, Microsoft Teams, Salesforce and more. Keeping your data safe, and, as staff are able to quickly communicate between sites and departments, saving time spent switching between different apps to complete daily tasks, share files or make calls.
If your telephone system is showing any of these weaknesses, it could be time to update your communication systems. NT work with Wildix, 8×8 and Anaya to provide unified comms to all types of businesses.
