Telecoms for Remote Work

Meeting the needs of staff & customers, without compromising quality & service

Remote work or working from home has been a part of life for many years, however during the Covid 19 Lockdown, it really came into its own, being a lifesaver for many businesses, allowing them to continue providing their services without staff having to leave home.

Fast forward a couple of years and this option to work from home, or at least ‘not in the office’ has opened the way for many people to get into and stay in work. No longer are we restricted to jobs or staff in our immediate area, we can now look further afield.

Fundamental to this though is a good communications network. Telecom services play a vital role in facilitating remote work arrangements, providing communication infrastructure to connect colleagues, access to company resources and allowing the whole team to collaborate effectively from any location.

Good quality, high speed internet access is essential for remote work. You’ve probably been in a Teams meeting where one of your colleagues keeps freezing mid sentence. Modern services such as new Faster Britain broadband keeps everything flowing, reducing frustration and allowing tasks to be completed with minimal stress.

Building on that, with Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), technological advancements allow crystal clear communication from any location, eliminating the need for traditional phone lines (something to keep in mind as the deadline for the BT SwitchOff gets ever nearer!) VoIP solutions enable your whole team to communicate using voice, video and messaging applications.

Remote Working laws updated 2024

Cloud services and Unified Comms platforms, such as Wildix or 8×8, complete the circle, keeping your data backed up and safe while keeping everything in one place for simpler, more efficient working.

We know that the pandemic increased the demand for remote working, and many organisations responded by introducing more flexible working policies, whether its various days at home or hours spread over several days.

According to The Office of National Statistics, between September 2022 and January 2023, 16% of people reported working from home only and 28% reported working from home and office.

Recent changes in legislation now means that employees have the right to request flexible working arrangements from the first day in a job (previously rulings stated that staff must work at least 26 weeks before requesting this).

Flexible working involves more than just changing working hours, it can involve changes to work locations and all that entails.
